CURRENT LAYER
Traffic pressure on 700 East had been building for years.
In 1956, the Utah State Road Commission planned a major widening of Seventh East, part of what it described as a new expressway.
Seventy years later, the street is changing again.

Light, image, sound and place can turn a familiar landscape into something temporary, unfamiliar and alive.
WHAT IS HIDDEN LAYER?
Some layers are hidden in the history of a street. Some appear through light or sound. Some only exist when people gather.
The form follows the place. A layer might take shape as an archive, site-specific art, a sound installation, a video work, projection mapping or a location-based experience. It might also become a gathering or retreat, created around what there is to notice there.
